30A Final Reflection
1) Read through your posts from this semester. Recall all of the experiences you've had a long the way -- the highs, the lows -- the fun moments, and the moments of drudgery, and even the moments of dread.
Overall, I enjoyed this class. I think what I liked the most was actually the stuff I learned. I feel like the exercises taught me a lot and I'm very glad to have all of this new information about entrepreneurship. The lowest part of the class for me was when I missed a couple assignments. It was really hard for me knowing I missed out on those points and there was literally nothing I could do.
2) What sticks out to you as the most formative experience? The experience that you'll remember years later? What was your most joyous experience? What experience are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing?
I think the most formative experience to me was the process of coming up with an idea for an actual company and having to develop it in detail. That taught me so much that I couldn't have learned without actually going through with it. I think this is also the experience that I'll remember for a long time. Whether or not I actually do get to start the company, I will never forget it. I think my most joyous experience was receiving really nice and helpful comments from my group. I think this is my favorite element of the class. I'm most proud of creating and developing the elevator pitch.
3) At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
I think my mindset has become much more entrepreneurial, if that makes sense. I don't really plan on becoming an actual entrepreneur in the future, but I think that thinking like an entrepreneur will be vital in whatever career path I follow. This class taught me so much about building a social network, problem-solving, and working hard to develop my ideas.
4) What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?
I would recommend, above everything else, to manage your time in this class. The material is diverse enough and the assignments are easy enough for anyone to manage, but the structure of the class is different and takes time to get used to. To perform best in this class, use reminders in your phone or alarms or something like that to make sure you don't miss a deadline. I think to foster that mindset, they should remember that any assignment that you accidentally miss is points you can never get back, and nothing is really worth missing an assignment for, even if it takes you a while to complete.

You have done such a wonderful job making it through this class. While others have chosen to take the easy route, I appreciate the level of quality in the work you have produced week after week. Your response to question 2 demonstrates how different you are from everyone else. You have really understood that this class provided unique hands on learning and from that experience, the level, depth and scope of what you learned are far beyond what words can convey. I looked at this class as a test, and one that is so similar to real-life in its requirement of diligence, creativity, and extension beyond the borders of comfort. I have known many people to have graduated, but very few who have done so and been successful. Your performance among our group tells me that you have a very promising future ahead of you.
ReplyDeleteHey Haven, well done on the class as a whole. I also enjoyed the process we went through of identifying problems and generating solutions. Your elevator pitch was really well written and presented so I think it is more than fair to be proud of it. Time management was also a big issue for me, I had to start setting alarms myself so I would get up early enough to do peer reviews/cupcakes on Mondays.
ReplyDeleteHi Haven! Great job on your final reflection and on all of your previous work in this course! It is great to hear how you can take the skills that you've learned in this course and apply it to other career paths even if it doesn't exactly mean becoming an entrepreneur. Missing assignments is tough (I know, I missed more than I would have liked to) but it's a great way to learn how to prepare better and get ahead for the next time. Also, It seems like every assignment that you did post was very well thought out and detailed. Great job!
